For those who demand for a timely update of data, our FTP data feed allows our clients to retrieve data directly from our server and update their data without any hassle. Meanwhile GTA provide daily / weekly update of data based on your demands. This service is specially made for those institutional investors who engage in quantitative analysis.

The following databases are currently using FTP data feeds delivery.

The FTP data feeds are categorized into TWO modes.

Customer Initiated Transfer

GTA transmits the data to the designated FTP site according to the agreed naming convention and update frequency.  You may access the FTP site, manually download the data pack, and import it into your own database.  In addition, you may also use and install your own software program for the FTP site to download the data pack automatically.  We recommend this transmission mode if your database intra-structure is very robust and reliable or you concern the most on your system security.  However, this transfer requires a regular manual maintenance of the database.

GTA Initiated Transfer

First, our software program – DataExpress, is installed in your database server.  The system periodically scans the FTP site for any latest data update which is transmitted by GTA to the designated FTP site according to the agreed naming convention and update frequency.  Once the system finds out that it is an update there, it automatically downloads the new data pack and install the download to your database.  Such transmission mode requires your database is of the same data structure as of GTA database, and allows GTA DataExpress to access your database (SQL SERVER 2000 + SP4 is recommended).  All in all, data update using this mode saves you time, effort, and human resource. We generally recommend this to most users.
